STATE COLLEGE − No. 7 Penn State spent the latter half of Saturday afternoon on cruise control as it rolled out to a convincing 27-11 win over UCLA.

Quarterback Drew Allar went 17-for-24 with 237 passing yards and one touchdown – a 5-yard pass to Tyler Warren in the second quarter. Allar also scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter for the Nittany Lions’ first touchdown of the game. Receiver Liam Clifford led the Lions with 107 receiving yards on three catches, and kicker Ryan Barker followed through with field goals from 25 yards and 40 yards out.

The Lions made do without half of their dynamic running back duo after Nick Singleton was listed as “questionable” on the Big Ten availability report released before the game. Kaytron Allen lead all rushers with 78yards on 21carries and one touchdown.

After being outgained 72-28 in the first quarter, the Lions pulled out 155 total yards in the second quarter and wrestled control until the clock ran out.

UCLA’s only touchdown came on a 1-yard pass in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter. Penn State’s defense − led by Tony Rojas and Zakee Wheatley’s 15 combined tackles – nearly shuttered the Bruins out of the second half and held them to just 106 total offensive yards after halftime.
